See article in today's (10/16) Wall Street Journal: "Arundo has 2 Lives: A Pest in California, but to Florida a Boon" (Front page, no less).

Seems we have little to fear about running out of natural reeds - maybe the price could come down too? Do you think that Vandoren is aware of the law of supply and demand?

Out here in central California the wildlife folks cut tons of pesky reed cane along the waterways every year. It usually doesn't get large enough in diameter to be useful for clarinet or sax reeds. However, the local Oboists are ecstatic :)
