I have inherited a pair of matched Noblet Artist clarinets Bb and A from my brother and my son of 10 years old is keen to learn.
Is this a good instrument to start on ? With what type of mpc shoud he begin (I was advised a Vandoren 5RV with 2 1/2 reeds of the same make.
I am teaching myself at the same time with the kit as it came but I wouldn't want my son to be 'penalised' by any early difficulties that he could avoid with 'easier' equipement.
Ciao !

The Noblet instruments (a subsidary of Leblanc) are considered good instruments. However, it is not a good instrument to start on, due to the significant weight difference between wood and plastic clarinets, which the weight of a wood instrument is a significant strain on the right thumb for a 10-year-old.

you could try a neck strap if weight is the only issue....I still use one when my carpal tunnel/ arthritis acts up
