Is anyone familiar with the LeBlanc Classic? Is it an intermediate or professional instrument? When was it made? It's not a current model and isn't listed in BlueBook either. I'm trying to assess it's value. Mine was purchased used in the early 60s for about $200. I assume it was made in the 1950s or before. Does anyone know anything about this model? Thanks.

Velma: I recently bought a Leblanc Classic on eBay. Its S/N is 23xxx. I approached the Leblanc Comp. and I was told by them that it was a professional instrument, made in 1964. By the way, I paid a bit more than $300 for it. I hope this helps.

Velma - If you click-on the "Search" area at the top of this thread and search for "LeBlanc Classic" you can read our previous discussions of it, those under "LeBlanc LL" may be the most interesting. I paid $175 in 1995 for the one I gave to my grandson. It is still quite a good player, a pro clar. Don

Leblanc Classic is professional clarinet. In the 50's Leblanc reintroduced the "Symphonie" model, but named it the "Classic".
I own a Leblanc Classic II top of the line instrument. Still haven't figured out what kind of wood it was made from. Wood is unstained and absolutely gorgeous. Unlike grenaddila that is brown, color is dark red and brown mixture.

I do not know for sure, but was have heard the same information at super20dan, ie. it is an pro entry level instrument. I've restored a couple of these and have found them to be great players with good intonation. I felt it didn't play as well as the Symphonie, but did quite well holding it's own against the LL I had.
