Do any of you who perform clarinet repairs, rebuilds, etc. know if Selmer Signet Resonite clarinets use the same keys, springs, screws, etc. as the wooden Selmer Signet Specials? I play a 1955 model Signet Special who's mechanical parts aren't going to last forever , and was wondering if the resonite Selmet Signets on eBay, might be a cheap scource of spare mechanical parts.

John,
Yes, and no....Selmer did make production design changes in the Signet line. Most of these changes were very minor. It would probably be better to make a trip to the local music store and ask if you could look through their "cadaver" pile and compare key structure. Also, some of the Signets used the Bundy type pivot screw while others used the more French traditional type. They could be made to work, but might be more labor intensive than you would like to handle.

Thanks for the info, jbutler. Guess I'll check the local stores cadaver piles rather than taking a chance on buying something that might not work.
