Well, I had a high school band audition. At my school we have two bands: concert band and wind ensemble, the latter being an honors class. I'm a sophomore and made it into the wind ensemble last year however I was 5th chair. I find out my results tomorrow and, while I'm confident that I made Wind Ensemble I'm eager to learn my chair placement. The audition was:
1. F, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, Gb, C, and G scales with arpeggios(concert pitches)
I played F and G scales 3 octaves and the rest 2 octaves.
2. Chromatic scale in a comfortable range for the performer.
I played low E to high G (4th)
3. An untitled etude that isn't very lyrical. (concert B key; allegro, lots of dynamics)
dont know why i posted this, just very bored i guess

Nathan,
Good luck with whatever spot you land.
I'm showing signg of my age by starting off with "When I was in high school..." I didn't have to audition for selection into a band. We had only concert and symphonic bands-no wind ensemble. I think assignment into the bands was up to the band director. Typically concert band was for freshman and a few sophomores while the rest of the upperclassmen went to symphonic band.
