Susana - We don't quite know what you are asking for, a bass clarinet solo?, with piano?, or with band?, etc?? What degree of difficulty?? Many of us Bass cl'ists here also exchange info on the site, www.bass-clarinet@groups/yahoo.com . Music for BC's is often discussed. Will try to help you. Don

I believe the translation of "concurse" is "competition". (The posting is from Uruguay)

A bass clarinet in a competition, wow - has there been a concerto or the like written for the beast (I'm very ignorant of BC repertoire).

diz, I think that the "Bear" in Arizona has written some (one?) but I don't know it's degree of difficulty.

there are many concertos for bass clarinet. A quick look at the castle rock bass clarinet pages solo repertoire guide will give you an idea of what is available and who publishes what. Donemus is always a good bet for bass clarinet material. David Loeb has 2 concertos that are both fairly easy and nice.. the problem being piano reductions... he did one of the 2nd concerto for me last year
for Concert Artist Guild and it was very nice, you can contact him or me for that since it has not been published yet.
other good concertos, I am fond of the Reiner Concerto(i was a finalist at Oberlin with that one) it is a medium concerto. Not terribly difficult, lots of top tones a little repetitive but ok.
Heuke Concerto, Hard with a side order of Hard!!
Martino Tripple Concerto for soprano, bass and contra clarinetists... very nice very fun! not good for a competition since it involves three players and the orchestra ensemble is small, but it is none the less a great piece and fun to put together. also a bit on the hard side, especially for the poor contra player
well i have taken up quite enough space here... :>
later
