 Value of evette master model
Author: jeff

I just bought my daughter a buffet evette clarinet the serial# is D31331 and it says master model on the top section. Was this worth the $325 I paid for it? It is in very good condition has just been regulated and had new pads put on where needed. No cracks and looks nice? It does not have the original case though.

This is supposed to be a good quality intermediate clarinet. If it is good condition and plays well, I think you got a reasonable deal.

You might search the klarinet archives here on sneezy for more information since it has been discussed a number of times.

Jeff -

What I've read is that when an R-13 had a slight blemish (not affecting the playing quality), Buffet would bump it down to the Evette line as the Master Model. Many people have written to say that they have one and can't tell it from an R-13. Thus you got a very good deal.

Good luck to your daughter.

Keep in mind that the Evette was equivalent to the present E-11 and the Evette and Schaeffer was equivalent to the E-13. It is the Evette and Schaeffer that often was as good (some are better!)as the R-13. The Evette and the Evette and Schaeffer were two different lines in the Buffet offerings.
