I recently hurt my back playing golf. My private teacher told me to look out for a "Weight lifter" by Robert James. Well, I've found out after a bit of looking that this guy's gone out of business. Does anyone have one of these that they could possibly sell to me? Do you think Mr. James would still have some in inventory?

Would a floor peg be an option for you??? They can be easily installed if you dont already have one and relieve a lot of the weight, especially if you have been hanging it from your neck.

Hi Tony: Was surfing the old clarinet postings and noted your enquiry on the Weight Lifter to use with your bass clarinet. The owner of the Robert James company that designed and manufactured the Weight Lifter died of cancer three years ago. It was a sole owner operation and his sons did not take it over. I knew this man for seven years prior to his death and saw him start from scratch on the Weight Lifter. Since moving over to the bass clarinet section from soprano six years ago, I have used the Weight Lifter all the time, I have never used my peg. I called his widow to
ask her if she had any Weight Lifters left and the answer was no.
If you are interested, I could send you a picture of my Weight Lifter and you might try to see if an ornamental iron shop could copy my unit. These will last a lifetime and I would be really lost
without mine.
