Hi.
Today I picked up my clarinet and notice something very wrong with the middle 'E' key. All the notes below and above it sound full, loud, and have a ring. However, when I hit the E, the sound become stuffy and is especially hard to below. There is no ring to the sound and it sounds muffled. I had my clarinet for about two years and I never came across this problem before. I did not drop or hit my clarinet in anyway. Is the problem in the clarinet or my mouthpiece and reeds? I think it is a mechanical problem, but I would really appreciate advice from the people on the board. Thanks!

It is difficult to understand what key mechanism you are referring to, but it sounds like some lint or other foreign object may have become lodged it the tone hole producing the note. Clean it out with a cue-tip and it should take care of your problem.
However, if you are referring (as I suspect) to the middle "B"--third staff line, B4--then your p;roblem may be with the lowest pad on the lower joint leaking slightly. Have it replaced by your favorite repairperson.

You really need to clarify which E. There are 4 E 'keys'. "Middle" eliminates two of them.
Problem is probably a blockage in the next hole after then E finger, or poorly adjusted bridge key, or E ring key set to high.
