 Tuning Issues

I have begun playing again (for about 8 weeks)after a twenty year hiatus. I am playing on a Boosey & Hawkes 1010, which is a large bore horn known to have intonation issues (aka "flexibility"?). I have been trying to plot a pitch curve using a new Seiko tuner, and have been getting inconsistent results. I started by playing each note and waiting for the needle to settle before marking its pitch. When I later play the same note using another reed out of the same box, the result can vary by 5 to 10 cents. When I play a short chromatic run up to the same note, it is usually closer to being in tune than when I play that note in isolation. When I play a chromatic scale from bottom to top at moderate speed, the pattern is more consistent and generally more in tune. I know my embouchure is not yet stable, but is there something else I should be correcting? I'd really appreciate some guidance.

Keith

You are simply automatically adjusting to get as closely in tune as possible. Have some one else read the meter where you can't see it.
