Does anyone know whee I can get a copy of Alessandro Carbonare's recording of the Mozart Concerto?
I have searched some sites which sell cds and have not found it available.

this recording is on an Italian label called ...um, hang on- oh yeah, AGORA (it is in fact, AG 111 on their catalogue).... NOW, whether anyone can actually get that for you is another matter- i had been told several times that it was not possible... the biggest and bestest classical music CD store in NZ told me "we can get it, but have to order it through London, which makes it very expensive" SSSSOOOOOOOO
my friend in Italy (who was comming to NZ) ordered it for me in Italy. Months and MONTHS passed, it didn't come. She came to NZ eventually, but still didn't have the CD..... in the end it was mailed to me from Italy and after the exchange rate, postage, plus presents to thank people for helping me out..... it cost as much as the quote from the store..... (about $25/30 us$)
it is possible to get- and it is possible that if i had ordered it from, say a store in Germany somewhere, and waited for someone to bring it over, maybe it would have been cheaper.
it's a pretty good recording- the Rossini pieces on the CD are great too, my favourite versions of both of them (hard to get recordings of the C maj variations)... the Mozart is good but the orchestra is not up to the standard of the Cleveland orch or the Vienna phil. This you'll notice most in the 1st mvt expo, the stings just don't sound that hot, but after that it's really ok- not the best you'll hear but not the worst (listen to the New Philharmonic with Jack McCaw- great clarinet playing but a pity about the orchestra). .... but Carbonare, he really does a pretty good job of things, yes indeedy!
Also on this label with Carbonare (and in my humble collection) the BRAHMS sonatas and Trio- in my opinion the best version of the trio out, and great performances of the sonatas (not "note perfect" but incredibly MUSICAL, and "individual" without being tasteless)
i've heard him play live 3 times, and played for him in lessons and masterclass etc.... boy, i hope he gets asked to record lots of CDs because THE GUY CAN MAKE MUSIK and i want to be able to listen to it. Unfortunately i don't live in Paris.
hmmmmmm could work on that i supose, but that would be a little obsessive.
