It's like every chorus or singing group that I go to, men are the bad singers, the women are usually the best. The men are usually off-key(!!)and have a really bad ear(they never know if thry're i tune or not) Do women suceed more at singing???????

Yes. I was told by my elementary school music teacher that I had no sense rhythm and that I was singing wrong notes. I was so afraid of taking general music in intermediate school that must involve some singing, so I opted to join the band and play clarinet. (Acker Bilk’s Stranger on the Shore was my inspiration.) It’s a decision I have regretted my entire life. I managed to quite for 18 years but I’m back to playing the darn thing(s) all because I’m a bad, male singer.

I'm so but I quite the guitar and picked up the clarinet. A man can't sing with the clarinet in his mouth. I don't know what woman?

Having sung in choirs for 35 years, I've noticed that women singers outnumber us, usually by more than 2 to 1, but this, I suspect, has to do with cultural pressures and gender bias. (ie. a perception that it is not "manly" to sing.)

Ah come on! I'm in my church choir and the men seem to have really nice voices. In fact the women are the ones that sound really screechy. I think you just notice when the man makes a mistake because they have such mellow voices, sort of like the clarinet actually. When a clarinet falters on its pitch you know it's a mistake as compared to a flute.
If you're talking about popular rock music, well, let's just say that's why the guitars and the drums are there...

According to Jim Croce, Leroy Brown was the badest man in town. I'm certain he was referring to Leroy's singing. In fact, I heard he was badder than old King Kong.
Leroy prob'ly would have been more successful if he wasn't meaner than a junk yard dog to boot.
By the way, did Leroy play clarinet? If so, what setup did he use? I'll bet it was no sissy boy French clarinet.

I think it can be a very interesting question. Why do boys win geography contest? Why do boy usually do better than girls in math? And why do girls usually speak and write earlier than boy? To me these are fun, interesting questions. Paul (male)
