Over the last two weeks I have had the good fortune to see both Kenny Davern and Ken Peplowski perform small group jazz in New Jersey. Davern in a quartet, Peplowski a quintet. Kenny plays traditional jazz, Ken draws from a more eclectic group of tunes and also plays tenor sax. Both are wonderful performers and truly jazz clarinet greats. It is nice to know this type of music can still be heard live.

I missed that one, had tickets too. Be sure to get to the jazz fest in Madison (NJ)...
I saw Kenny Davern at Shanghai one night. He played the blazes out of a mid-sixties plastic model. He said it was his main horn, probably used it here too.
