I've had my lovely Leblanc Big Easy for almost a year now, and I still love the sound. But lately, every time I open the case, the pieces have rolled out of position. This CAN'T be good for the horn, and it didn't happen until recently. Is it possible that the foam lining of the case has "compacted", imploded, or something? Has anyone else heard of this happening? Can I just put another flat piece of foam in the case on top of the disassembled horn to keep things from rolling around????

Connie -
Go to a camera supply store and get some non-deteriorating non-rubber "foam rubber." It's designed as do-it-yourself customizing for cases to carry your cameras in. Cut it to shape with a single-edge razor blade (available at any drug store) so that your Big Easy lays easy in its case.
Perhaps the Doctor or some other techie can suggest a non-smelly, non-fume-exuding glue to hold the new supports in place.
Best regards.

This is one of the problems with Leblanc. Beautiful French made clarinet in crappy Mexican case. It makes you wonder if they are serious sometimes. I have seen this before. It is probably better to buy another case or try complaining to Leblanc.

I have had some good success with the new space age "memory" foams that were designed for NASA applications and do not out gas noxious chemicals. There are even some companies - brand names excluded - which will send you a sample of the foam used to make matresses of the material which should add the necessary padding to keep the horn from rattling around and rolling out.
