One of the orchestral excerpts I have to play is Kamarinskaya by Glinka. Anyone know how its suppose to be interpreted??? any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are plenty of recordings of this work. Best to study them carefully.
Practice it slowly, with a metronome. Tough solo.

From the main page, click "Catalogs" and "Search Catalog" and search for "glinka" (without the quotes) when the search form comes up. (You will have to subscribe to the site but the subscription is free and gives you access to a great catalog of recorded music that you can download to listen to.)
Among the recordings listed at Amazon (search "Glinka Kamarinskaya" without the quotes), I note one on Chandos by the Detroit Symphony, perhaps with Larry Lieberson performing the solo?

I forgot to mention that, if you are using the International Excerpts book, pay attention to the articulation on the recordings (and perhaps listen to more than one). My copy of the excerpt shows no slurs on the 16th note runs. On the Naxos recording, at least, the clarinetist slurs everything. I don't have an actual part and don't know this piece well enough to tell you whether his/her approach is standard practice but, given the nature and speed of the solo and everything that comes before, it makes sense to me.

This is where ONE recording will not prove to be enough. Not sure about whether the articulation is correct in the International book, but most of that solo is definately articulated.
Ted Oien plays (brilliantly) on the DSO/Chandos recording.I believe, however, that LL plays lead on the Gershwin "walking dog."

In this excerpt there is an articulation error in the International excerpt book (not unusual for the International editions, which have numerous errors). Five measures from the end of the excerpt, the first five notes of that measure (4 sixteenths and an eighth) should have a slur across all five notes.
The excerpt is written correctly in the Giampieri Orchestral Studies (Ricordi).
HAT is correct in the fact that most of the solo is articulated (tongued)...GBK
