I am looking for a SCORE of the Finzi 5 Bagetelles for clarinet and STRINGS. Does anyone know who publishes that? I know it was originally written for piano and clarinet but I have heard it for clarinet nad string orchestra and would like to locate a score for this. Please let me know. Thank you!

I heard Jeanene Garesche perform this version with the Webster Symphony (mostly Webster University faculty and students) a year or so ago (and a very nice job she did, too). If you have trouble contacting Larry Ashmore, you might try the symphony conductor, Dr. Allen Carl Larson at:
larsonac@webster.edu
He might be able to give you a lead if there is a publisher.
Best regards,

Sorry, originally Opus 23 for clarinet and piano, and Opus 31 for clarinet and strings.

The 5 Bagatelles for clarinet and piano (1938-43) is Opus 23.
The clarinet concerto (1948-9) is Opus 31.
The arrangement of the 5 Bagatelles for clarinet and strings (1992)is considered Opus 23a...GBK

But the clarinet Concerto (1949) Opus 31 is for clarinet and strings so exactly what 23a is and how it differs is a puzzle.

WOW --- thank you so much for helping me with this search. I will try the options you have given me and see where it leads me. Mindy will be auditioning for a concerto competition this fall and I would liek to know that we will be able to get the orch for the piece that she uses. It doesn't have to be a "concerto", just a piece for clarinet and orch. It is just called aconcerto competition. The Finzi is a piece that seh really likes and she first heard it with clarinet and strings and that is what prompted her to use it for solo/ensemble this year. Now she would liek to see about this concerto competition. Thank you again Jim, BGK and Jack for your help. It is truley appreciated.

Op 23 -- Bagatelles for clarinet and piano
Op 23a -- (Same) Bagatelles but the piano part is arranged for strings
Op 31 -- Clarinet Concerto (a completely different work. I know I will get alot of argument here, but IMHO the Finzi concerto is finest clarinet concerto written in the 20th century and the second greatest, overall. Compared to the concerto, the Finzi's Bagatelles are ... well, bagatelles.)
Best regards,
