Hi...
I did a search and came up dry, so am going to ask you....what are the differences between the older Leblanc Classics...Symphonies...
and Dynamics(H)? All that I've seen seem to have the same keywork.
Is there a bore size difference? I'd like to get one some day but am not sure which model. Thanks in advance...

John, this is based on my own experience. Around 1951, I got a Leblanc Symphonie, which I thought was the best Clarinet I ever owned. I later tried a model called the "Symphonie Dynamique," which to me was, in comparison, quite lacking. I did not find it to be nearly as easy-playing as the Symphonie, somewhat "stuffy" if you will, so I stuck with the Symphonie until some years later when I stopprd playing (not a smart move). I have been led to believe that in the 1940s Leblanc had a "Dynamic" model (yes, name in English) which had even less connection to the Symphonie. I have never played one of these.
Leblanc keywork is interesting, in that there is to me a distict family resemblance of keywork among all Leblancs I've ever played.

Hi John and John, we have talked about the LeBlanc lines of cls a number of times, so some info may be retrieved by search here. I've followed LeB for some while, and in looking at [a few of] their models, believe they succeeded in competing with Buffet and Selmer in the various bore size/character horns, and with a number of keying etc patents from their early years in the US. So, my conclusions are that their large [15.0 mm] cls, as in the '50's Selmers, Dynamics [2 and H] became the Pete Fountains, and as John "indicated?" the Symphonies [and possibly the newest models] competing with the R13 etc. Dee Hays is knowledgable re: the Symps, my family has several others [my best is a mid-size-bore L7], but prob. the best source of info, beyond LeB itself, is Tom Ridenour.
