I'd like to put on record the death at the age of 75 of Cy Laurie, one of the great traditional jazz clarinetists on the British jazz scene for much of the past half century. While others (Acker Bilk, for one) found fame and fortune in more commercial fields, Laurie, who modelled his playing on that of Johnny Dodds, stayed faithful to the New Orleans tradition.
