The switchover from www.sneezy.org to www.woodwind.org is complete. Your old bookmarks using www.sneezy.org will continue to work, however.

Mark, are you also "saying" that we are now a legal "non-profit" organization and that all contributions are now tax deductable?

No. That will take months to do. The name change is in preparation for incorporation. After incorporation a request is made for a determination of non-profit status. Then the IRS grants a preliminary finding. Then ...

As said so well in "The King and I" ... et cetera, et cetera, et cetera ...

oh ok then. how about one imaginitively made from various woodwind instruments? two upright saxophones, bells facing each other, would make a good capital W.

Will you be hosting discussion groups for other instruments as well as clarinet now?

Two upright <i>saxophones</i>? Two upright <b>saxophones</b>?!?!

How about two bass clarinets or four soprano clarinets? This didn't start as a saxophone site and isn't yet one, so why should saxophones start getting all the glory?

Mark,
All the 'help' you're getting on redesigning the website is great, isn't it? Kinda reminds me of when my three young daughters decide to 'help' me with a chore at home, it goes SO much faster when they 'help'..........LOL

ClariNet has been the registered trademark of the ClariNetwork Corporation for many, many years.

The plans are for woodwind.org to expand. Very slowly. No new discussion forums, etc. will start unless I can get adequate funding to staff/monitor them - along with more bandwidth and everything else that goes with expansion.

The whole idea is to become a public non-profit so that there's a chance of getting funding to expand. As it is there's stasis -I have thousands of hours of work stacked up for Sneezy and no way to catch up, not even enough time to monitor work done by others. Expanding right now would be folly. After all legel things are finished - then I start to look for projects/funding (which is why I now have a board to help me with direction and fund raising).

The site has succeeded beyond my wildest dreams - but now comes the hard part. How to parlay success into an ongoing, self-sufficient enterprise.

Nothing would please us better, Mark, than seeing you getting some reocompense for all the time, effort, and money you have personally put into Sneezy in our behalf. There is really no way to thank you!.

I don't know if this has to do with the new servers, but when I posted just now in another thread, I had to re-enter my name and e-mail (it had either been erased or wasn't there; I confess I hadn't looked beforehand), and the posting showed up with those odd slashes before the apostrophes (I didn't put them there). When I've seen these before in other people's postings, I assumed them to be artefacts of translations among e-mail programs, but before now it hadn't happened to me. I'm not upset or anything, I'm just wondering if this is part of the switchover.

And, as I see in my posted message, the slashes aren't there now. Go figure.

The messages are stored in a database, and ' is the delimiter. Therefore, all ' must be escaped by using ' .

But sometimes thigs get screwy (bugs in the Phorum code). There's a newer version of Phorum, but it doesn't do some other things that the old one does. So until I have time to go & rewrite the Phorum code we're left with a few little weird things that go on.

Your old "cookie" (a little piece of data that's stored on your browser) doesn't work across domains, which is why your name, email, and read posts are messed up.

Don - having a general subject name (ie Woodwind.org), it would therefore be acceptable to have the logo made from other woodwind instruments as well as clarinets. Anyway, other woodwinds (esp. sax, oboe, flute) have had topics repeatedly turn up on this message board, making it already rather 'multicultural'. Besides, theres only so many shapes you can make out of a clarinet (a straight line...).

But I do realise that the rest of the site is only clarinet-related material so you do have a point.

This BBoard will remain clarinet - take a look at the title ... If you look at all the URLs on this site, you'll see they're prefaced by /clarinet . It was done that way years back to give me room to make a more multi-facted site.

What would the "O"s be made out of in "Woodwind"?

Just an idea... how about a clarinet from a frontal view of the bell? That would make an interesting, O, I think...
