Author: sean

hi,
I 'd bought a modern version chalumeau (made by Adler-Heinrich) when I went to Aachen,Germany last year.

Does anyone know of a weblink for fingerings of a chalumeau?

no, but you can work them out for yourself, especially if you know recorder fingerings, it's easy, just fool around a bit until it sounds ok. Develop and exercise your own "information superhighway", that one you don't need to plug into the wall....
isn't it a beautiful sound? doesn't it feel good to play without all the metal and all those extra holes?
have a great time- play good tunes

(i'm sure someone somewhere has good advice about where to find a fingering chart, but i'm sure you're smart enough to work it out, i mean, you only have 12 fingers, right?)

From the look of the chalumeaux on the Adler-Heinrich website (www.adler-heinrich.de), these instruments use German recorder fingering. You will find fingering charts for German recorder here on Sneezy at www.wfg.sneezy.org. If that doesn't work and you can't figure it out, I'm sure you could e-mail Adler requesting a fingering chart.

(Hahahaha:)
Donald N -
Didn't Benny Goodman moonlight some recordings, when he was still a 'youngster', under the name Twelve Finger Jack -- something like that? Someone told me they'd read that somewhere... to get around the recording contract issue or something. I mean, most of us wouldn't turn down a little extra cash on the side (without the boss knowin' about it :) - would we?
It's a good story anyway....

Sean

I was checking out the Modern Chalumeau at the Antique Sound Workshop (ASW) & sent out an e-mail (see below). Yes, ASW will supply a fingering chart to the ones they sell. I'm sure you can cajole someone to giving you a fingering chart.

How does it play & sound?

You can check out ASW at their web site:

Any soprano range music.

The Moeck instruments are historical baroque chalumeaux. The
Adler-Heinrich instruments are of modern design.
