I have seen an ad for a secondhand wooden Doinet clarinet. Has anyone heard of them?

Are you sure it isn't "Dolnet"? While I have never heard of a Dolnet clarinet, I once owned a Dolnet alto sax (made in France) which was a good horn.

it is Dolnet and not Doinet. I remember that the famous jazz clarinet player Maxime saury was sponsored by Dolnet around 1949 in Paris. Dolnet fused with Pierret another small manufacturer of saxophones. I do not know what happened since

According to "The New Langwill Index", Dolnet was established in 1880 as "Dolnet, Lefevre et Pigis" by Adolphe Dolnet (b 1848, d 1911), by 1900 known as "Dolnet & Lefevre". In 1911, on the death of Adolphe, his son Henri assumed control of the firm. The index notes that the firm was in existence sometime after 1945, but does not have an end date.
