I've an old Albert system metal clar. that has been used as an ornament for some time. When I looked at the mouthpiece I noticed that it is lined with metal from the tenon to the taper, something I haven't seen before. It's obviously been made with lots of skill and care so I thought I should give it a try..........
Sadly it's awful. but I wondered if a metal lining is unusual. Does anyone still do it? Is it something to do with being on a metal clar.?
It's marked JACK HEYWORTH Super-true Lay Paramount

Brymer in his Menhuin series book talks about the reworking of mouthpieces as they wear over the years, eventually (in England at least) ending up with a silver lining. I've tried a few, but none of them played even a little bit.
I believe David Glazer used a wood mouthpiece with a silver lining.
Best regards.
