Practically every major city in Australia has a youth orchestra or two. I suggest the easiest way to do this is to go to google.com and do a search like: youth orchestra associations. This might be a good starting point. Good luck! In which city do you reside, by the way?

Check out the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras (meets in Northern Virginia), the DC Youth Orchestra, and the McLean Youth Orchestra. In Maryland there are youth orchestras in Montgomery County, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County and Howard County.

.md? does that mean you live in Maryland? I'm confused by all this talk about Australia! If you live close to the D.C. area check out the American Youth Philharmonic (www.ayporchestras.com or something) they meet at langley H.S. in McLean, Va. It may be a bit of a drive if you DO live in Md., but a few people from over there do it and I would think its definately worth the drive! I'm a co-principle (clarinet, duh!) and its really a great experience... we played at Carnegie Hall a few weeks ago and our next concert includes Hindemith Symphonic Metamorphosis (that'll be at the Univ. of Md. I believe?) auditions in the Spring, check it out!
