We are in the process of buying a student model bass clarinet and are trying to decide between a Vito 7168L and a Selmer 1430P for various reasons. Can I get some opinions, pro's/con's, etc. on these instruments from anybody? Thanks

Beth-
I have a Selmer Bundy Bass Clarinet. My fellow bandmember has a Vito, and sounds good. My impression is that the Vito is a better instrument, although I haven't tried it.
My Bundy seems to be fairly well in tune, but isn't as easy to blow as my regular Selmer, especially in the higher register.

I bought my 17 year old son a Vito BC and he loves it. Says it's the best student model he has ever played, including the Bundy and Selmer student models. The tone has fooled more than one listener into thinking it was grenadilla, not plastic. I agree that it sounds great, and so far it has proven very easy to keep in adjustment. For 1/3 the price of the low end Buffet bass clarinet, I say the Vito is a deal that's hard to beat.
