I was thinking last night if it is possible to make a reed out of dry bamboo stalks. Is it?

Yes, although cane responds better.

You can make a reed out of EVERY type of wood, most likely, though I'm not sure how practical cedar reeds would be at all...

I'll stay with cane.

I know there is a difference between cane and bamboo, but never paid attention to what the difference is. They both seem to be very similar.

I know sugar cane, for instance, is sold fiber inside, while bamboo is hollow, but the bark and the fibers are otherwise similar.

Does anyone know what the specific differences are?
