I just wanted to tell all of you that in two hours I will be playing in my first college concert band concert. We are playing one good song out of ten or so, but it is worth it. It is pustza (sp?? it sounds like that anyway). The first clarinet part is great. I just wanted to thank everyone on this board for being so helpful.
thank you all

A concert featuring "ten songs, or so"?????? My old college band director always used to say that a "concert should be no longer than the seats of the audience can endure." I hope your auditorium or concert hall has plush furniture. And, I also hope your concert went well and that your personal performance was brilliant and enjoyable. That's what it is really all about. Good Clarineting!!

Isn't college concert band fun? I love it...i'm playing bass clarinet in the University of Iowa Symphony band, and its great. We've had 3 concerts so far (2 with the same program), some of the music was great, some was not so great. we played Holst's Dance the Spirits of Fire (short, but i LOVE it!!) and the Persichetti Symphony for Band - that was excellent too. Also Equus (by somebody whos last name starts with a W..dont remember it), which I also liked, though I was definately in the minority. We havent had rehearsal since our last concert, so next monday we'll be reading new music to play at the American Bandmasters Association conference in March, in Wichita, which we're traveling to play at (if anyone will be there come watch..should be good :o)) and the Iowa Bandmasters Association conference in Des Moines in May. but congrats on your concert, and good luck!!
happy thanksgiving, and GO HAWKS!!!!
