HI There;
A Friend of mine has a metal "Regent" Bb clarinet made by the Ohio Band Instrument Company, and we're wondering how old it is. The serial number is 35980. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Colin Farquhar

Colin...Did you try to do a search on this board under "Regent"? There have been some postings about these metal clarinets...GBK

Colin, metal cl's were in style in the early 1900s, '10's-40's, and the name of "Ohio ---" suggests to me an early name of what was later the King line of insts., made in Cleveland. Do a search, likely Mark C has put the Langwill info re: King etc into our archives. Off-hand , I'd guess at the 1920's, and prob. a "student" horn. Luck, Don

I don't believe the "Regent" is a King product, because from what I've seen the H.N. White student-line products that came before the "King" brand was introduced were called "American Standard" or just "H.N. White" --- but I could be wrong (heck, I wasn't even a gleam in my father's eye way back then --- come to think of it, my father wasn't even alive then!).
