 Pyne mouthpiece
Author: Won Kim

Hello
My teacher recommanded to me to use James Pyne mothpiece. I tryed with Vandoren Traditional 3 1/2 and It kinna works for me. I have some problem with playing high pitches..it doesn't work or at least hard to play the high notes. Should I use higher strength? or different reed? Thank you

The best thing is to work with your teacher on this, especially since s/he's the one that recommended the Pyne. Did you try out a lot of the Pynes? He has a number of models and of course there are differences between examples of the same model.

Yes, you should work with your various reed strengths and keep practicing. Your teacher has selected an excellent mouthpiece for you and I believe you will have a great tone and do well with the Pyne.

Sometimes a particular mouthpiece doesn't suit us at all times so maybe get another copy of the same facing and you may notice a big difference. No two faings play the same and try to avoid stuffiness in the throat register and look for accurate pitch in the upper register..Pyne are very good mouthpieces.
