légère (lej’ayr): (right from the Legere web site! http://www.legere.com).

In "English it would be exactly: "Ledge-air."

It is pronounced without a break in the hyphonated words I used to describe the sound.

Thanks Mark & Peter!
In spite of what Legere's (badly outdated) website says, MY local retailer (which specializes in woodwinds) never heard of them no matter how I pronounce them. So what's the best (and cheapest) way to order one?

Peter,
There's no 'd' or hard 'g' sound in Legere.

Don't know if its the best way, but you can order from Woodwind and Brasswind.
I just got an order yesterday that was on back order for 10 weeks. However that was bass clarinet reeds, maybe there is not much of a wait for the more popular "small" clarinet reeds

I've had good luck ordering from Brook Mays. They've usually got them in stock.

Try this -- lay-zhair. If you spoke French it would be easy to show you, but trying to get the French sounds translated into English phonetically ain't easy!!

Hope it helps.
