There's almost no chamber music scene at my school so I'm trying to start a chamber music club. None of the school music teachers know all that much about wind chamber music so I'm having trouble finding appropriate music (my orchestra director can help with string music). There are several limitations: there are no double reed players, no advanced pianists and only one French horn player. Some part substitutions can be made or piano parts slightly simplified but the biggest obstacle is that almost no one has very much experience in playing small ensembles.
Can anyone suggest some highly approachable wind (or mixed wind/string) chamber music? My school has major scheduling issues so quintets or less would be the most successful. The individual parts don't have to be easy, it's just that putting them together can't be too hard. The school's music library is very small ranging on nonexistent. I'm working on a very small budget so I don't want to order something only to find that it's unplayable by this group.
Thanks a lot,
Micaela

I'd suggest you consult Jack Brymer , Clarinet, which lists many pieces of music for many groups [with comments on difficulty], to find suitable compositions for what groups you may be able to organize, congrats on attempting a toughie! Don
