 Dynamic 2 (H)??????

I need some help. I am looking to sell an old clarinet I have, but I don't know much about it or what it's worth. Here's what I do know. It's model # is 1276 and serial # is 1430. It was made in the late 40's/early 50's. It's wooden and has an extra key on it that my student clarinet (or any others that i've seen) didn't have. It's keys are a little dull, there are no cracks, but there is a small chip (i had to search for it) in the upper piece toward the bottom under some keys (does this make sense). It doesn't affect the playing though. I only played clarinet for about 7 yrs so I don't know much about them. On the barrell it says Dynamic 2, I called the leblanc company and they said it's also called Dynamic H. I could really use some help, I don't want to be taken. Thanks

The Dynamic H was a professional model. It's value will depend on its overall condition. Does it need pads and corks replaced? Are the springs in good condition? And so on.

Leblancs, while equal in quality to Buffets, do not bring as high a price on the used market. My guess for one of this age in very good condition (i.e. no overhaul required) would be $500 and up. But that would be if you have the patience to advertise and wait for a buyer. It is doubtful that you would get that good a price on any of the online auctions.

Some time back, I had the privelege of a bit of repair to a Dyn H, a quite good, big-bore 15.0 mm [?same as the Pete F?] cl, and found its specs in an old LeB display poster. Having an L7, with [I think] a 14.85 mm bore, it played much the same, likely a good Dixie/dance band horn. I'd suggest not selling it cheap, I and other collectors of LeB's would like to have it. Luck, Don

it does need new pads, the cork is ok, but probably wouldn't hurt to replace them either.

I see one's turned up on eBay now . The seller
state's that it's valued at $1000 , though that
seems a tad steep I would think ...

That is definitely way too steep. However you see this sort of thing all the time in statements on eBay. It can be due to ignorance, misunderstanding of the appraiser's statements, or simple advertising exaggeration.

Summer - I looked and as you can see, bid to get it started for you. It looks to me that it has the 7th ring for the "fork Eb/Bb" and the artic. "C#/G#" which I believe is what the Pete F model has as extras. The 1276 is in my wall-display poster as the "H" model, does yours actually say "2" ?? Should be a good one depending on restored condition. Don
