Thanxs for all your answers to my last question (about how to make a good sound)!!
I bought a brand new clarinet when I started playing 3 weeks ago, Yamaha 26 II which came with a 4C mouthpiece. After hearing so much about how great the Vandoren mouthpieces are my question is: could there be a big difference in sound if I switch to e.g. a Vandoren 5RV mouthpiece instead of the Yamaha 4C?
I recently switched from using Rico reeds to using Vandoren reeds instead and that really made a difference!

The 4C is not bad, considering it is a freebie.
The 5RV is only SLIGHTly more open, and may not offer you much of a playing change.
May I recommend that you go to a store with some choices and try them on for size? You wouldn't buy shoes without a test-fit, nowoodja?
If you have JUST begun, I strongly recommend you look into the inexpensive alternatives in the Fobes Debut and Hite Premier.
These are less than $40 new, and are designed with the starter in mind.
The Vandoren stuff may be more resistant than you want, for the first 3 months.
When you have a feel for moving through the ranges of the clarinet, try the Yamaha again... you may be surprised. (Free is not always the same as cheap.)
Lastly, look seriously at the Legere synthetic reeds. They're VERY good, and will reduce the 'fiddle factor' associated with natural cane.
You do wanna spendjer time playin', right?
