Anyone playing BarrĂ© Mec reeds by Rigotti?
Author: Bog_Roll

I recently bought two boxes of Barré Mec reeds by Rigotti, from my local supplier, one in strength 2, and the other, 2 1/2.

But each strength of reed is of a different style.

The 2 has full bark, and a normal curved cut, just like any old Rico orange box reed.

But the 2 1/2 has a "French file cut", with the bark scored straight across, and a section of bark removed, like a Vandoren blue box, or Rico Royal.

And the actual cut on the 2 1/2 is not really curved at all, but varies from reed to reed, being really jagged and irregular, as though someone hacked 'er off with a pocket knife!
