I've heard that this can be done, especially when using the Vandoren ones, but how well does it work? Also I heard by some there can be some tuning problems.... if there are tuning problems do you end up playing sharp or flat? Thanks for the information....

If the internal volume of the mouthpiece is smaller, you would need a longer barrel to stay at A=440Hz.
Also, the German mouthpieces are typified by a very shallow facing curve with small tip openings... heavier reeds are indicated.
Sound like an interesting experiment.
I have a couple Viennese style mouthpieces, including a Hammerschmidt..
I couldn't get any sound out of them on my French-style horns.

I played with this setup for several years. I loved the tone I got from it. I didn't have any tuning problems but I did have problems with dynamic range. I could get very soft but not too loud, had trouble with performing with a wide range of expressions. I found it was very flexible for going from high to low notes and back again very smoothly. It worked well for Mozart, Weber, etc but not too much for 20th century music.
I used Steuer reeds with a string ligature. Hope you give it a try.

Here's what I'm currently thinking about, Vandoren VD3 (should I get the wider or the narrower model? The wider is 22.4 mm and the narrow is 22mm which would fit better?) with Vandoren White Master 3's.

I have been playing a VD3 with a Buffet B12 for some time, using a Rovner ligature or a chord. The mouthpiece will probably fit on any other Buffet too. I played it with Vandoren 2 1/2, but you could also use 3, German white master.
If this is a good choice, I cannot say. I have long switched to M13, which is similar in opening, but a french mp. I find the sound better, and the play easier. You got to try yourself. Also, I am not good enough to recommend one over the other.

Hi!
I'm currently using a Richard Keilwerth M95 German MP with my RC. To play at A=442 and in tune requires a shorter barrel of approx 63mm long. The german mouthpiece works well with an E11 without changing the barrel

Thanks Kent, you just answered my question. The Wide model is to fit Keilwerth clarinets, so I guess that if a Keilwerth mpc fits your RC then that would be the one.

Get the 22 mm or small tenon. The wide tenon is specifically for wurlitzer clarinets!
