There are indeed quite a few Bundy/Buescher Eb contras showing up ---- are the school systems all selling their old inventory in preparation for the new school season? I wonder what they're replacing them with? Or perhaps school bands don't include contras anymore?

Most of the schools around here have no contras, even the schools with the better band programs. I talked to a couple band directors and they stated that they were just spending too much money keeping them repaired and adjusted. Our school, that has the lowest band budget for miles around has a Leblanc contra and I've been fortunate to be able to use it for the last two years, but I had to do a lot of fixing to get it to play. They just don't have the budget, the director doesn't like it and the kids don't like it so it sat in the storage room for the last 20 years.
