Does anyone know how to remove the register tube from an older Selmer clarinet where there is a "stop sign" shaped metal disc that the register tube is in the middle of? Is the metal disc screwed into the wood? Any information will be appreciated. Thank you.

The hexagonal speaker bush (on CT and Series 9/9* clarinets) is threaded into the top joint, so you'll need to find or make an appropriately sized socket or driver to undo it (and refit it).
There are three types of threaded speaker bush Selmer used in the past - the first was a double one with an outer, large diameter threaded cup with two holes on it to undo using a two pronged removal tool (the speaker tube is a push fit into the centre of it and sealed with wax), then the early CT which has a large hexagonal top and large diameter thread, then the later CT and Series 9/9* one with the large hexagonal head and narrower thread.
Bundy/Buescher/Signet and Schreiber/Buffet B12/E11 hexagonal speaker tubes are also threaded and socket-type ratchet screwdriver shanks (without the screwdriver tip fitted) can be used to remove/refit them.
When refitting threaded speaker and thumb tubes, heat it up and melt either beeswax or paraffin wax on the threads, then screw it back in.
Don't use pliers to undo them as they can slip and gouge up the top.
