Has anyone tried Brad Behn's Eb cutout barrel? I searched but didn't see any comments on it. I just ordered it to try because it mentions bringing down the LH clarion notes which are quite sharp on my Noblet.
I am wondering about the cutout. It doesn't look very wide in the picture, but hopefully it works well with Bb reeds. The description says "Additionally, coupled with our EPIC™ and SONO™ Eb mouthpieces, the Long-Reed-Cutout on one side will allow you to use Bb reeds." I assume this is just sales-speak and any mouthpiece would work the same? I have a MoBa mouthpiece.
Anyone have this barrel?

Not about the Behn barrel, but I got a Pereira 3D Eb barrel with the cutout for Bb reeds to lower the pitch of those very notes on my Noblet Eb, and it helps with the tuning very much. It also works well with Bb clarinet reeds on all of my Eb mouthpieces.

You will find the Behn Eb Barrel to be quite the cure for the little Eefer. The cut-out will make room for your Bb reeds, though I use Legere Eb Eurocut reeds on my Behn Epic mouthpiece.

Ken, I currently use a Backun cutout barrel and am sold on using Bb reeds most of the time (I do use the Legeres but they don't cut it for me when i have to play a lot of altissimo above F). I didn't realize there was another cutout choice until I was looking at Brad's site for reeds and happened on it. I'm looking forward to trying this one. I alternate between the Behn adjustable and a MoBa barrel on my Bb, and one thing I like about the Behn is the tuning. Since that is always such an issue for Eb, I thought I'd check this one out!

I recently emailed Brad Behn to see if his barrel would fit on my Noblet 45 eb and he told me it would NOT fit. His barrel is sized for Buffet instruments that have a larger diameter tenon, so it will be a really loose sloppy fit on the Noblet. Maybe you could get it to work with a replacement cork or something like that. I ended up buying a barrel from Pereira 3D since they will make barrels to custom sizes. It turned out very well too, I like it quite a bit.
On that note, the Fobes and Backun barrels will also be too big for a Noblet, they are also sized for the larger Buffet tenon.

I used to own Behn’s Eb barrel. The cut off is wide enough for sure.
If you are locking for the maximum narrowing of the left hand 12th, I highly recommend Brian Corbin’s Eb barrels.
