In an age of looming pandemics, symphony orchestras may have to shift to outdoor performances in acoustical shells instead of enclosed concert halls.
San Diego managed to fund its new Rady Shell largely from private contributions.
In forthcoming seasons, going to hear the symphony may become synonymous with "let's go to Rady Shell."

That's great for San Diego and perhaps a handful of other cities where the weather is almost perfect throughout the year, but ya can't get away with that in Buffalo!
