For those in the S. Houston area and aren't playing a gig or something, our community band will be playing at the Alvin Community College tomorrow evening just after 7pm till dark. Then the fireworks start, right on campus.

Keep looking up!!!! At a local July 4th concert four years ago, a spent artillary salute just barely missed landing on our bassoonist as we were playing the final few bars to "Stars and Stripes Forever." (No problem though, our great bass clarinetist could have covered the part) By the way, I'm surprised that you can find a dry spot of ground down there to perform on, given the weather reports we in "the North" have been hearing. Have a good concert!!!!!

I'm getting webbed feet already. The night before the record floods a few days ago, the Houston Ballet Symphony had their final dress rehearsal. Most left their instruments in the storage area beneath the stage for the next night,s performance. This area was completely flooded and all were lost including grand pianos and some veery valuable manuscripts.
