I played with a student yamaha for 5 years on a daily basis as a street musician but now i feel it's time to move to an intermediate horn. Since i travel lot and play in terraces a plastic one would be the best...but i got just lured by this Noblet 40 for a bit over 200. A model from the 90's it seems with pads and cork replaced. It plays says the owner whom has a good reputation.
It seems a good buy.
I am just learning about all the world of buying horns now that i can afford one for 500 or less.
Leaving in Mexico and having here some excellent luthiers trained in France at an affordable rate i was also looking for a cheap clarinet in need of a major restoration.
I can see that a hard rubber might be the best as a street musician but i am very attracted to get the feel of a wood one. I play often near the sea...
Any advice is welcome. Thanks!

That's a decent looking instrument, and a good deal too! As long as you are careful about oiling your instrument at least twice a year I wouldn't worry about it being wood. Given that you live in a warmer climate I would even go as far as to say that there is no more risk playing outdoors in a warm environment than indoors.

Despite what people tend to think, wood actually has a very low coefficient of thermal expansion, much lower than plastic and even hard rubber.

See if you can test it out for a few hours, bring your current instrument with you when you do this. If you find that it plays well and is an improvement over your current instrument I would get it.
