I would like some impressions of the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp

I have looked at the archives, but there was not much.

Thank you

It sounded great until I read that adults had to stay in town and rent a car etc etc. Also it wasn't an easy place to fly into.

For children/young adults it is a very good, well balanced and inexpensive program. My children have attended/are attending the camp.

Bob - what did you expect? The camp is for the kids, not the adults. There's no facilities for keeping the parents on the grounds, and the camps tend to be in relatively remote areas. Tanglewood's the same - and a lot more expensive to stay in town. Or Round Top. Interlochen would be further out - and the Traverse City airport is about 20 miles from the camp.

Interlochen has a small hotel and a number of "scholarship cabins" that are sort of like an old-fashioned motel and quite comfortable. Like other music camps, Interlochen is not designed for the presence of parents for more than a day or two. The campers have far too much to do.

Best regards.

I went to Blue Lake back in middle school. I felt that it was a fun experince (I was first chair in one of the high-school bands and got to play a jazz clarinet improv. at the all camp talent show) but I didn't learn much. The clarinet instructor didn't teach me anything (not one comment) and waited untill the end of the camp to tell me everything I needed to know.
