 Airy Notes?
Author: ILikePies

I've recently been having some problems with some of my notes sounding airy. I'm playing on a 3 1/2 reed, and to be specific, all my notes from the bottom E to B all sound fine, and everything past the first break sounds fine as well. It's only the middle C-Bb that sound extremely and horribly airy. I've tried everything including faster air and wetting my reed more. None of it has worked so far. Help please!

Please be more specific about which C-Bb you mean. "Middle" C, also called C4, is written on the first leger line below the treble staff. Then, C5 is an octave higher (3rd space up).

#1. So, do you mean C4 and the Bb below it (Bb3)? Or Bb4-C5 (over the register break).

#2. Have you tried a lighter reed just to see if might make a difference?

#3. Is this a sudden problem or has it come on gradually?
