Hi,

Is there anyone else besides Kessler Music that has their own brand of beginner clarinets?

My thanks in advance.

Isn't the Etude WWBW's own brand?

Well, since the Etude ECL-100 is sold by WWBW, Guitar Center, Musiciainsfriend, Music 123, and Reverb.com, I'm not so sure. I just did some research and found out that Guitar Center is the parent company of: WWBW, Music 123, and Musiciansfriend (who call themselves a "sister company" to Guitar Center and share the same warehouse). Now, Amazon also sells them and their ECL-100 clarinets are supplied through "The Above Market LLC". However, other entities including: "Freedom USA Sales", "The Above Market LLC", "Bonum Store", and several other outlets also sell them through Amazon.

It appears that I'm comparing a single "brick and mortar" store, Kessler Music, with a conglomerate, Guitar Center.

Trying to find out who set the specs (if any) for the Guitar Center is, for me, like opening a giant can of worms. (Much too time consuming.)

I'm beginning to believe that the ECL-100 is simply a generic beginner's clarinet made in China.

I just talked to reverb.com. They are a privately owned entity which acts like Ebay for musicians. They do not own their stock of instruments.

So, it appears that Kessler Music's "Solist" is in a class of its own because Dave Kessler told me that their "Solist" is built to their own specifications.

I had the opportunity recently to inspect the "Solist". The keys are very sturdy (they won't bend), the nickel plating is quite thick, the bore is cylindrical at 0.583, and the body material is hard rubber.

Personally, I would rate it slightly above the Vito 7214.

FWIW
