Attempting high notes. Trying E5 - D6. Started with E5. When try to play with Reed 3 strength I can only get concert B or E. Tried two reeds that seem good on lower octaves. Buffet E11. I expected it to be a challenge but cant even get the note to show the expected D on the tuner. What can I try???
Reed seems to 'stick' on a high note even if finger low or no fingers like a G4.

E5 4th space in staff (or do you mean E6?)
First, make sure the register hole is not clogged.
The appropriate reed strength depends on the mouthpiece, but a 3 should be reasonable for most mouthpieces. Could you be biting as you go higher, shutting off the air?
You should know what E5 sounds like. Does your note sound like that? If so, your tuner is bad.
I assume your C5 and D5 are good. Try slurring up the scale from C5.

Just to the right of this site's name, The Clarinet BBoard, is a little graphic showing C4, which is the first line below the staff.
E5, the 4th space of the staff, is not a "high note". It's part of the clarion register, which usually seems to be defined as going from B4 - C6 (2nd line above the staff).
The altissimo register, depending on who you ask, runs from roughly C#6 to C7 (6th space above the staff).
Did you mean E6? If so, then your mention of the D above would mean D7, and that's confusing, at least to me. Also, you refer to concert pitches B and E, which may mean you're reading off a tuner that references concert pitch, but that switch of reference is also confusing here, and it's compounded by your apparently playing an E and getting those two readings a fourth apart. So, a little clarification might help people better respond.

I just started with E5 but am going up into high notes to A6. Will try them again, or use different reeds.
Funny. Seems OK now. Maybe reeds were too wet or too dry. Tuner is good. Notes are good. Just a glitch I guess.

On taking the clarinet apart I found the cork ring the barrel goes onto was loose and turns. Case humidity reads 64%. Clarinet about 2.5 years old and never serviced.
What really happened is, the notes were good all the way up to A6 - right on.
Then I went to disassemble and the barrel was stuck - would not turn. Then it came off and I found the cork would rotate. I may take it to tech even if OK tomorrow as it may need oiling or something.
