 Altissimo Difficulties

Hi guys! Recently I've noticed this issue in the Altissimo register. No matter how many long tones I do, I can go up to E above the staff clearly, but then F and F# barely come out, if at all. The G above that comes out very easily, and above that, I can only hit the A. My goal is to confidently go up to the second C above the staff in my chromatic runs, but it seems impossible right now. Please help? I've looked at many many fingering charts and none of the fongering come out clear, or at all. Should I get harder reeds? Should I try to overhaul and rebuild a better embouchure? Any advice is welcomed.

Most importantly, enlist the services of a really, really good clarinet instructor, ideally one that plays professionally and loves to teach and trouble shoot problems. You may need to check with the local college and arrange a private session with their clarinet instructor. A good teacher is more valuable than all the most expensive equipment in the world. You can play like a monster on mediocre equipment if trained properly.

In the meantime, have your instrument checked out by an expert technician.

If clarinet is OK, a good MP that will play the entire range of the clarinet is the Vandoren M13 with about a 3.5 to 3.5+ Vandoren reed (blue box, 56 Rue Lepic, V12 or V21). A good starting point, IMHO for a reliable MP and reed setup.

Don't worry my friend. Many methods say that a good clarinetist should reach to the high C at least but I believe that one must only reach the Bb that is one step lower. If necessary just play an octave lower or look for alternative and out of pitch tones that is out of tune or off-key alternatives or play an ossia staff. Obviously, you have to cheat the best you can.
