I have a Selmer basset horn that I love but the case is obviously an alto sax or trumpet case from Bundy that has a new interior. There is NO place for the peg and the neck joints sit loosely in a compartment. To produce a horn that expensive and not have a good Paris case is really horrible. Nothing sits as securely as I would like and the case doesn't lock.
I have heard from some of the Selmer people that the horns come to the US without cases and are putin cases upon arrival, using the cheaper Bundy-type cases.
Is it possible to get the Selmer Paris case somehow?

I too have a Selmer basset horn with a "trumpet style" case. In mine there's a place for the floor peg, although unless you know it's there it's invisible. The two dividers between the storage compartments each have a small notch right at the front (almost hidden by the pile of the lining material) which is just big enough to hold the peg neatly in place along the inside of the case near the handle. I get round the problem of the two neck joints rattling around by putting the one I don't use in a small cloth drawstring bag. The other one then sits comfortably alongside it in the small compartment.
Selmer does make a light, cordura basset horn case, but they are in short supply and startlingly expensive, which put me off buying one. However, there is a much more cost-effective alternative. I recently bought an alto clarinet case from Reed and Squeak (yes, really - look them up!) for my Selmer alto, which also works nicely for the BH, so I'd expect to use it for the latter from time to time.

When I bought my Selmer Series 9 basset horn, it came in a lesser quality case from some other instrument. After a complete overhaul, it plays great at A440. At that time, the Selmer company listed the basset horn case in their Accessories catalog for a little over $200, but I failed to buy one, unfortunately. Now, I don't see them listed.
Any information on the Selmer basset horn cases would be appreciated.

Wes, there is some information on Selmer's website, but no price. A few stockists show it as out of stock. When I looked into it a while back, as I recall there was a European retailer offering it for c €500, but can find no evidence of that now. Best option is probably to contact the manufacturer direct. The world market for Selmer bassets is 10s of instruments per year, not thousands, so the market for separate cases probably makes it hard for retailers to justify carrying stock!

Thanks for all of your comments. I'm going to try my Selmer dealer and see if I can't get the nice case. The Bundy trumpet case is no way to carry such a fine horn. If any of you hear of a dealer with tis case I'd appreciate knowing about it!
Hurstfarm I like your idea of using a drawstring bag for the neck joints. I have a good one made by Crown Royal!
