Flutist, flautist, or flute player
Oboist or oboe player
Bassoonist or Bassoon player
Trombonist or trombone player
Not sure on French Horn.

Note that on flutist versus flautist, you may get a raging debate but both are correct. Personally I prefer flutist since English speaking players call the instrument a flute. In Italian, the instrument is called a flauto and flautist is derived from the Italian terms for someone who plays the instrument (i.e. flautisto/flautista depending on whether they are male or female).

My Grandpa played the french horn and was referred to as a hornist.

I've always heard "horn player".

"Flautist" came into use solely because of a typographical error in a BBC announcer's manual. The only reason it is still used is that the BBC was afraid to admit it was wrong, and people are afraid to contradict the BBC.

"Flutist" is perfectly good and has the advantage of being in English.

That one about the BBC being responsible for "flautist" is a hoot! C'mon, you don't really believe that apocryphanalia? Where can we "look it up?"

I always thought that someone who played the french horn was just plain mad.

One does have to wonder where all of that extra pressure ends up.

The proper term for a person who plays the oboe is "annoying".
