Ton Kooiman thumb rest on Selmer Privilege??

I'm having a lot pain in my hand from the weight of my Selmer Privilege (my previous clarinet was significantly lighter for me), and im considering buying a Ton Kooiman Etude thumb rest, because I have a handful of friends who use them and tell me how great it is.

The thing is that the Privilege thumb rest has one screw instead of two, and im not sure how you would attach a Ton Kooiman thumbrest (which is attached by screwing it into the two thumb rest holes) on my horn... any suggestions to solve this problem? I guess I should take it into a shop and see what they could do but yeah if anyone has any ideas otherwise or any solutions it would be very much appreciated! Thank you!

With any replacement thumbrest, expect to have holes drilled and others filled in as the screw holes on aftermarket thumbrests are most likely going to be in different places.

And if using a Kooiman thumbrest, have whoever is fitting it use better wood screws than the ones supplied with the Kooiman as they're dire.

Just make sure your repairer is going to do a good job of fitting it as I've seen Kooiman thumbrests fitted appallingly with loose screws, stripped out threads and copious amounts of superglue poured on or double backed adhesive foam strips in a bid to stick them in place.

Several years ago I fitted a couple of Ton Kooiman thumbrest. After a couple of years I found that the screws kept working loose, but closer examination revealed that the problem was actually with the plastic mounting plates. The screws provided had small heads and they were actually distorting the backing plates to the point where the screw holes opened up enough to allow the screw heads to pas through it.
I contacted Ton Kooiman and found him very easy to deal with. He sent me a couple of improved replacement plates and some new screws which had slightly larger heads. When I fitted the new mounting plates I added a third screw to provide some additional stability and support. I've had no further problems and the screws remain snug on the new plates.
