I'm looking for a top-notch clarinet repair person. I live Kentucky, but I'm not averse to shipping it to a repair shop if they are really good at their trade.

I had my clarinets set up/adjusted at RDG Woodwinds by Levi Tracy, and I'm very happy with the work he did. The key action feels much smoother and the whole instrument sounds better. The repairs have held up well over time, too. I think the other repair techs there are also very good. They do book up pretty far in advance, though.

If you haven't tried Miles Davis (no, not THAT Miles Davis) at Miles Ahead Music (Louisville KY), I would highly recommend him. He does a great job with his professional level overhaul. I asked him to do very specific things and unlike some of the better techs out there, he is willing to do anything that is possible upon request (some prefer certain materials, certain ways of dealing with particular keys etc).
You are not too hideously far from the Nashville area and another really great woodwind tech, Jason Onks. He and his crew started as oboe repair but have expanded and do wonderful things with clarinets.
