 Stamitz Concerto in E flat
Author: Sara

Hey I'm finished with my competitive playing until after summer so I went looking for something fun to play so I just went to Brodt's the other day and I bought this piece because I thought I'd like it since I liked his concerto 3. I was wondering if any one had any tips pn making it sound better, because right now I kinda stink at it. Oh and whats the deal with the end of the first movements, are those cadenzas like glissandos or something? I have the Shireiber edition, or well its something like that. Thanks!

Do you mean around measure 251?

My addition prints an alternative to the 'Double stops' as a chromatice run from Highest G down to E at Forte with a fermata at the bottom.

I like Dieter Klocker's version of this, and he plays it pretty straight... not a great deal of extra inflection.

Since so much of this is written in straight time, the ending is maybe the only place to stretch out.

I'm still wrestling with the 64ths, so I slur it all the way down (seems alot of work for 12 seconds of playing!).

This piece is at my skill level, if it were any more difficult I couldn't get through it at all.

I particularly love the theme around measure 190.

Good luck in this, it is a rewarding piece to play and (unlike most of my stuff) people seem to enjoy hearing me play it!

The Schirmer version has a nice piano comp written with it, so it can be played in a small setting, too.
